Joe K. of Massachusetts
Joe became paralyzed from the neck down in a diving accident when
he was 21. Today at 59, he still enjoys life and peace of mind thanks
to Mr. Electricity®.
Making adjustments to his condition at first was not easy. Years
ago he developed bedsores. Eventually he purchased an airbed which
blows fresh air on his skin and keeps him comfortable.
His airbed has an air pump that runs constantly. If it loses electricity
the bed will deflate in about two minutes. That's happened quite
a few times -- three times because the pump itself quit, others
due to power outages.
When the mattress sinks he can't reach any of his support equipment
-- the phone or computer -- to call for help. Once, this happened
at 2:00 AM. Luckily he managed to get help within an hour. His phone
is activated by a breath of air.
When Joe first called us, it was obvious that he knows more than
most about the power utility grid and its problems. He had looked
into all the solutions for backup power and determined Mr. Electricity®
was the best. He said, people in his situation cannot afford to
go without a backup power system for emergencies.
Joe no longer worries about losing power with Mr. Electricity®.
Since the system was installed, he's had power outages but his airbed
worked right through them without missing a beat. Joe says if it
weren't for Mr. Electricity® he get rid of his air bed no matter
how much comfort it gives him.
Frank and Cathy C. of New York
These folks live in the heart of the Adirondacks. They "lose
power all the time." Apparently there is only one main power
line to many towns in their area. Anything from a car accident to
a fallen tree can throw the entire area into a power outage. Usually
it happens in the cold winter months.
Frank told us they have had more than a dozen power outages since
Mr. Electricity® was installed. It has worked perfectly for
them. Frank and Cathy are even prepared for very long outages with
our tri-fuel generator. It is connected to their whole-house propane
tank for an almost endless fuel supply.
Frank summed it up well when he told us, "You have no idea
how nice it is to take a hot shower or be able to flush the toilet
during a power outage." Their furnace, lights, refrigerator
and TV are also wired to Mr. Electricity®.
Richard D. of Massachusetts
Richard and his wife are nearing 70. They care for their son who
gets around in a wheelchair. Richard installed a wheelchair elevator
between the non insulated garage and the main floor of the house,
replacing a set of stairs. Not long after, on a cold day, his wife
and son were in the elevator between floors when a power outage
occurred.. If Richard hadn't been there to manually help them down,
they might have frozen to death.
Mr. Electricity® now powers the elevator. Richard says they
have lost power several times since the installation. One of those
times they needed to use the elevator and Mr. Electricity® never
missed a beat. The elevator worked perfectly through the power outage.
Richard considers Mr. Electricity® life-critical for his wife
and son, and takes comfort knowing that Mr. Electricity® is
on the job 24 hours a day. In this instance, both the elevator and
Mr. Electricity® were paid for by a Federal Block Grant for
people with disabilities through the Methuen housing authority.
Lyle J. of New Hampshire
Lyle built his dream home atop a beautiful mountain in New Hampshire.
His "driveway" is barely accessible without a four wheel
drive vehicle in the winter. Words cannot describe the view. Trouble
is, Lyle soon realized this paradise had him trapped. Power outages
are all too common in this area. Lyle had enjoyed extensive traveling
before building this home. But now he could not leave for fear that
he would return to find his pipes had frozen and burst. He had to
stay with the house to start his gas-powered generator whenever
power was lost.
He considered buying an expensive self-starting propane fueled
generator. But propane could only be delivered to his remote home
in the summertime and would run out fueling a generator through
power outages during the winter months.
Mr. Electricity® was the best solution. Lyle purchased a system
with four battery banks which can power his furnace for almost four
weeks. Lyle also bought our tri-fuel powered generator. In the unlikely
event of a power outage lasting longer than four weeks, the tri-fuel
generator can recharge Mr. Electricity®'s battery banks. The
fine Honda powered generator uses only a quart of fuel per hour.
Lyle spoke with Lee Hebert, the man who invented Mr. Electricity®.
"Lee," he said, "this product has given me back my
freedom from my own self-made prison."
Nancy R. of New York
Nancy is one of the almost two million people in the U.S. who
lives with sleep apnea. This condition does not allow a person to
fall asleep without a special face mask The mask is attached to
an air pump and provides air for the person while sleeping. Without
this equipment a person can die.
In a power outage, the air pump has an alarm to wake the person
to alert him or her to the fact that the air pump has stopped. The
person can then breathe on his or her own but cannot fall asleep
again until the power comes back. Some people have had to go days
without sleep or start a noisy generator to power the air pump.
Nancy was relieved to discover Mr. Electricity®. Since the
installation she's had many power outages while sleeping. Of course,
Mr. Electricity® seamlessly powered her air pump and she didn't
know the main power was off until she awoke in the morning.
